Eibach Pro’s For £99

the demon tweeks reciept says

Pro-kit clio 91> 1.4 16v (old pt number E75-24-1)



However on the box its says

EIBE10-75-001-02-22

Prokit Renault clio - B Diesel





So im f**ked if i know wot the springs are for!!!!

mite be makin a few fone calls 2moz at this rate!!
 


Right, the model number on the springs I have is EIBE10-75-001-01-22 !

This is the same as Roamer and telford_mike have fitted on their 172s. But if you check the Eibach website it states that EIBE10-75-001-02-22 is the correct model number !

I phoned Demon Tweeks today and the guy (Mike Scott) told me that the springs I had were the right ones !

WHO HAS THE RIGHT SPRINGS !?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?

Right, this is weird ! My car is a 2002 02 MKII 172. (There are a lot of 2s in that sentence ! LOL !)

You had yours from Demon Tweeks too ? What is going on ?

yep ordered from demon tweeks yesterday.

mine is 53 reg mk2 172.

dont think they changed springs!!
 


How much did you pay ?

According to K-Tec and Eibach, you have the right springs. According to some other websites my springs are fine. Also, telford_mike and Roamer have the same springs as me.

BUT, we both ordered the same springs for the same car on the same day and yet we have different springs ?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Something does NOT make sense to me !

The correct springs for the 172 are 10-75-001-02-22. The 01-22 springs are for the lighter engined models and are NOT listed for the 172. The diesel springs are correct for the 172.



Eibach had a price rise of over 20%!!! in January.

Thanks David, will be on the phone to Demon Tweeks tomorrow to sort this out as I need them delivered by Friday for fitting ! What a c**k up ! They just didnt want me to pay £99 ! LOL !

I phoned Demon Tweeks today and they told me I had the right ones ! That is bad !

That means that Roamer and telford_mike have the wrong springs too.

David, just for arguments sake, what is the difference between the two ?

while we moanin at demon tweeks they assured me my car only needed 2 springs!! i told him to check agen!!

The Eibach springs are matched to the car depending on the weight of the front of the car. The 01-22 are for the lighter 1.2 model and the 02-22 for all other models.

I would say it would be very dangerous the springs are designed to improve the handling on a car with a certain weight. This means the springs could be a little "sloppy" when fitted to a car with a "too heavy" front end for what they were intended to be fitted to.



If you are going to fit replacement springs to your car there is no point in cutting corners, you should always fit the springs designed for your model. Anything else will be a waste of time and money.

I totally agree with that, the reason I ask is that I know at least 2 people who have the wrong springs fitted to their 172 which is very worrying !

This is especially worrying if you order the parts and get them fitted at the same place, not knowing that they are in fact the wrong items ! You would never know until something went wrong as these people have nothing but good things to say about the suspension now, even though they see to have the wrong suspension for their cars !

Just been on the phone to Demon Tweeks to speak about this. They have agreed to pick up the old springs, part no 10-75-001-01-22, and send off the new springs, part no 10-75-001-02-22 which I will receive tomorrow. Had to pay twice now to make sure I have them by the weekend but then I will be refunded when they receive the wrong springs. Not ideal but as long as it is sorted then that is the main thing !

It still worries me that you can be sent the wrong order and be told you have the right order even after enquiring several times !

This is from the Eibach website concerning the spring model numbers :

The back springs are the same in both items as you would expect but the front springs are stamped differently. This is due to the extra weight of the bigger engine as David from K-Tec informed us yesterday.

Diapec, I hope you get it sorted out.. make sure you dont pay any extra though cause its them that messed up.:mad: I would imagine the 01 springs would have less stiffness to compensate for less weight of something.. best try and get the 02 ones then.

Can I just say though that the reason I ordered from k-tec is cause all I have heard is good stuff.. glad I did now !:D

LOL ! Fair enough mate, just remember tho, I paid £99 for mine ! TWICE mind you but still £99 ! LOL ! They did try and say that I would have to buy the new ones at the proper price but that was NOT going to happen was it !?!?!? Cheeky buggers !

What was weird tho is that SilverRSC bought his springs on the same day, for the same car, from the same place and he got the right ones and I got the wrong ones ! GO FIGURE !

Mine technically arrived yesterday too, but there was no-one in the house so they are re-delivering today.. hopefully get them fitted this w/end.. so thats 3 people that are fitting eibachs this w/end.. the race is on to get the pics up.. ;)

Well mine are being done on Sunday as I am going up to go out on the town with Chavyboy in London on the weekend. I will be travelling back to Swansea after I have had them fitted so plenty of time for them to settle !

I will post some settled photos on Sunday night or Monday morning !
 


For those fitting these springs on the weekend (_KDF and SilverRSC), what else do you need to sort out once the springs are on ? I have been told that you need to sort out the wheel alignment after it has been done as the lower ride height will mean they are not aligned as they should be ? Where you going to get this done ?

For those who have had these springs fitted, what else did you have to do after fitting them to ensure the car is set up properly ?

The correct springs have just arrived and the old ones taken away ! All set for them to go on the weekend now !

Just getting a quote from Adrian Flux to see what they quote me including the suspension. Not sure whether to bother telling the insurance company or not yet.

lucky sod.. heh.. my springs still havent arrived, it was my tyres that they tried to deliver on tuesday.. still waiting on the springs.. really want them for this w/end cause I am getting a mate to come round to help.

I think its just the wheel alignment, but personally I am gonna be checking all the rubber bits (oooeerr) while I am doing it to see if there is any play in any of the joints.

Have you told the other folks that have the wrong springs yet ? could be dodgy..
 


I will have to get the wheel alignment done when I get back to Swansea.

Yeah I have, they seem to be happy to leave them on as they have had no problems so far.
 


Surely its only the camber setting which will be dirfferent after lowering and with the minimal drop on the Eibach pros, it wont be much. Camber is not adjustable on the standard 172 anyway so i dont think you need to spend money on an alignment check unless you believe your tracking is off. Anyone know different? I am fitting Eibachs this weekend, but not planning on getting alignment done at the mo.

they only lower it slightly so i cant see it having to much affect on camber etc.you can get camber correcting bolts if you wish but i cant see you having any problems with the ebaich springs.
 


Jay, should the drop be instant after the Eibachs are fitted ? My car is riding at the same height as it was before they were fitted ?

they need time to bed in but they only drop a maximum of 20mm(15mm at the rear) so thats not a lot really.time will tell.
