Either my inlet manifold or Exhuast has come off need help...



its not sorted :( working on this engine is the biggest mission ever, i need a guide to remove the cam belt, because it all need stripping and a helicoil fitting, new head gasket and rocker gasket!!

Oh i only work on v10's. Sorry for the confusion.

V10's are 4stroke?!?!?!... only commonly available engines as far as i know that mix oil and fuel are 2 stroke, eg. scooters, lawn mowers etc. etc.

obviously you can get huge 2 stroke diesel engine in boats, generators etc. etc. but thats making it even more confusing

My uncle knows what his doing but he doesnt have a clue how to remove the cam belt, because it seems as if the rocker cover is stuck in something in the middle of the cam belt, and with it bein a 1.2 with a 172 conversion theres no room :mad: really regret buying a done up car atm :(

if he knows what he is doing he would'nt be asking about the rocker cover!

you need cam locking tools, and pulley locking tools to loosen and remove the cam pullies to remove the rocker cover.
 
ok he already knew it needed the cam locking tools etc, just needs to know how to get the cover off the cam belt as you cant get it from under the wheel well! :S
 
all i need is a straight answer :S the head needs to come off but that wont come off if the cam belt and the rocker cover is off! i need to know how the cover on the cam belt comes off and how the rocker cover comes off!

Mate, to be honist with you. If he cant take cambelt covers off he has no chance of taking the head off or doing the cambelt.

How much is it threaded? the sparkplug normally pop on the 3rd cylinder, mine did it too! if its not to threaded i would just use theadseal. Make sure to take out the plug and turn the engine over a couple of times to blow out any debris. And check your HT leads as they normally shatter from force. :)

Oh My God, you are having a laugh? You do know that you dont need to take the head off to fit a helicoil dont you?

Sounds like you and your uncle are in danger of fecking a perfectly good engine?

Please put your tools down and let someone who knows what they are doing put it right before yu cause more unecessary damage!

Might be worth getting someone who knows what theyre doing to helicoil it in situ for you, save you buying tools, taking the head off, royally f00king the timing up, getting swarf all over the shop and generally making a mess of it.

I'd imagine decent engineering companies can do it for you. Try yellow pages under 'engine reconditioning' etc

DO NOT remove the head to helicoil it no need, my mate shot the plug from Cyl 3 (common problem) and it was done with the head in place.

cambelt needs specialst tools from renault, other manufacturers make tools for other F4R's but not for the RS one
