electric fan

hi guys/
I have a 182 non cup 05 plate. i think my electric fan is playing up? can anybody tell me how long before your fan kicks in whilst running the car idle.

It'll be temperature not time that dictates when the fan comes on. If you leave the car running does the water temperature go above the half way mark?
