electric window broken , help please

My drivers side electric window broke in the winter. The passenger side worked using both the button on the drivers side and the button on the passengers side. replaced the motor and regulator but that didn't fix it. Got a new switch for the drivers side today and when I tested it the fuse went , I heard it click and checked it. I know the fuse was fine before because I checked it earlier. So my question is will the switch break the fuse , is it likely to be the switch that caused the problem in the first place when the new one broke the fuse? I'm planning on buying a new fuse and trying again. But I'm afraid it will just break again. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
