Electric windows

had my passenger side window down on my mk1 172 today, went to click it up but the thing didnt move but i could hear the motor attempting to shift it. Im at uni in a dodgy area and didnt fancy the idea of leaving my window open so i had to pull the window up so its now shut, any ideas on the cause/price etc?

any comments are welcome!

Sounds like the cable that joins the motor to the regulator has broken, its common on clios. You have to have the whole thing as it comes as a complete unit.

as black fox says it sounds like the regulator cable has snapped. comes as a complete unit and costs about £150

yes they all use the same regulator as long as its off a three door of a similiar year.
