Electrical Issues or Alternator?

hi all. Joined a while ago but havn't had time to post, hopefully this is the right section, basically... tonight while driving home car started playing up, was driving fine, then all of a sudden, the traction control light, serv light and ABS light was coming on while braking, then stereo started going on and off, then a whole load of other lights came on, id say and honestly believed the alternator had gone and i was simply running from the battery, i turned it off, while it was still reving freely, and running fine. then came to start it again straight away and was dead, usually clicking from a dead battery.. sooo then few hours later came to it, to jump it before buying an alternator and it started fine, not even a hesitation, took it for a drive and was fine. no lights, driving like usually. i multimetered the car while idleing, 13.5 with nothing on, going up to 14.2 when revved to 2k. is this normal? any ideas? sorry for long post but wanted to supply as much info as possible.

hi,yeh those voltages are about right,might be worth checking the earth strap to the engine/gearbox and to the battery.:approve:
