Electronic Fault and preheating warning light

Hi

My brother has a 2003 1.2 Clio dynamique billabong and needs some advice.

Recently when he has been driving the car randomly becomes sluggish and the steering becomes heavy. The electronic fault and preheating warning light (the one directly below the petrol light) comes on.

Ive checked the handbook and it says consult the renault dealer but obviously theyl probly want money just to have a look at it.

So before he takes it to the dealer i just wondered if anybody had any advice or a solution.

Could possibly be the computerised throttle body. If the revs drop this will affect the PAS pump as its belt driven. Also check the throttle position sensor on the acc pedal / TDC sensor.

Yeah he said the revs drop and it feels like hes in the wrong gear.
