Electronic Fault Warning Light

Hi all, Nubee in need of your help for my 172...
I was driving home this morning and the Electronic Fault Warning light came on and I lost drive ie push down on accelerator and nothing. Pulled over, turned off the engine and re started the car light went out and I continued on my way. The light came on again as I arrived home but I was still able to drive around.
Any suggestions before I resort to taking it to the garage.

Welcome matey, when you say 'lost drive' was it limiting you to ~3000rpm? If so, it sounds like limp home mode.

No there was nothing at all no drive, as if the throttle had been disconnected from the engine...

I'd say check the wires, get someone to rev it a bit while you give the throttle body wires a wiggle, see if you can manually induce the problem.
Failing that, get your fault codes read. Might help narrow things down a bit.
