Electronic Powersteering

hey, need to re-wire my electronic powersteering after an engine conversion, anybody got any advice on how i should be done? or a wiring diagram somewhere?

me + electronics = no!

i got 16vjon to help me do mine, but also my autoleccy mate

and it still doesn't work! i think i've been given the wrong dash loom :(

nope, its s**t anyway, i'm now putting a manual rack in

the abs is the thing to worry about, i'm putting the cup setup in mine now

i thought the only bit of wireing you had to do was in the engine bay? the rest of the wireing is from a petrol car with no powersteering, the powersteering was from a diesel.

theoretically yes, but in my case it seems i've been given a dash loom out of a random car which has caused me massive problems!

Ahh right! thing is iv wired it up exactly the same as it was, relays and all, but still cant get it to work, and changeing the rack is just to mutch hastle!

anybody got any ideas on how its supposed to be wired up?

wiring it up "as it was" doesn't work

i have no idea how you make it work

petrol and a match will work though!

Regrgister it as the Cup and save the abs warning light hastle if you want then its officaly the Cup doner as such

Do a search for posts topics on 172 transplants the wiring is all explained there on the stearing rack.

Contact the DVLA and say the cars been reshelled from crashed car I hope Matt can supply you with the car reg etc so you can sort it. or else get him to give you another cars details etc and use them to "claim" the cars been reshelled as such then your officialy a crash write off for insurance as such pls no abs issues only issu is your on 172 road tax level rartherthan 1.2 which you can usualy get away with a dynamic with a 172 in as such.

Or else pay the £160 or so fee and get the car registered as a kit car as such then there no MOT for 3 years (since the car goes for SVA approval and is deemed as new as such due to the extent of the test shtye do on it) you can keep your old number plate as such if you have enough evidence the cars got enough old car bits as such etc. Not sure about road fund I guess its 172 level but least you cna have a kit car as such and no MOT for 3 years (MOT is what £40 so for missing 2 thats worth £80 of the fee plus you can decat and not need to swop/go see the forgetful MOT person wiggling emmisions probe.)

is it the same for a mk1 diesel? :S and will the rack work like one without powersteering if i just drain the oil out of it?

Didn't think there was actually any fluid in an electric rack?

All the electric bit is is an electric pump, in stead of a conventional belt driven one, so there is fluid and hydrolics etc or whatever. you think it would be simple to jest wire it up, but no hayens said theres one model with 3 relays and another with 4, but dosen say whitch is whitch!!!

Ok then, anybody out there got a Mk1 Clio Diesel, with power steering, that could be helpfull, and tell me how its wired up? number of relays and all that if anybody can be EXTREAMLY helpful!?

its different on the new clios mate, its just an electric motor, like a servo that assisits the column rotating

no fluid, the system you're on about does exist, but not on the clio phase 2

Ahhh i see! was i right about the Mk1 Diesel power steering then? because there is fluid im my power streeing, if i only knew how it works i could wire something up, but i cant find anything anywhere! :mad:

my mk1 1.9D just had a hydraulic pump powered by the aux belt

what are you trying to do??

mine has a electric pump, im just trying to get it to work again! took the diesel engine put and put a petrol engine in there, now the power steering wont work, il wired it up the same but it wont, so i dont no what to do! i just want it to work!
