email only working on 3g not wifi?

Got an odd one here

My emails on my phone(gmail) only work when I turn on cellular data(3g) but if I turn on my wifi and click on emails it say's
"Cannot get mail
the user name or password for "gmail(description of account) is incorrect"

If I turn off wifi and turn on 3g it works perfect!?!?!

I've retyped my user name and password and delete my email account tied to the phone and reinstalled(?) it..

Still no go

any ideas?
I'm on iphone 4
oh and in internet works perfect on wifi too,
and it has only starting happening the last 3 days,

Delete your gmail and re-add it.

Do you have the bt-fon app? Mines did this!

I havent installed any new apps or changed anything recently,

did yours work through 3g/2g just not wifi?

Cannot get and send?

Make sure your ports aren't blocked by your service provider.

Also, add gmail as exchange on your iphone not as gmail.....

I can send and recieve email as long as it's through 3g so my "ports" shouldn't be blocked?

I just tried the exchange thing now but it asked for "server"?
I typed in pop.gmail.com but it doesn't work
what server do you have?

It's been perfect for the last year just fecked up during the week

Is it like this on all wifi networks? Or just your home wifi?

well I've no other wifi other then home so I can't be sure...
the wifi works perfect for the internet(safari),weather etc
