This is my first post and I apologise that its quite a long one.
After the the events of the last few days I felt compelled to let you know my story regarding the MOT.
My 182 failed its MOT on high emissions this week Here are the results.
CO 8.064%
HC 479ppm
lambda 0.770
I had shown these to the Renault Dealer and the MOT tester both of whom had little to say other than replace the CAT(£2000) :nonor the lambda sensors(£90 each).
I rang my local tyre dealer to get a price for a CAT from them, only to be told they cannot supply one as Renault have not released the pattern!
Starting to panic now.
They did say bring the results sheet in as one of their guys can figure out what needs replacing by seeing the results.
Sooooooooooo I did just that. The guy immediately said I had a hole in the exhaust just by looking at the results above. He put the car on a ramp and showed me that the cat to exhaust clamp was loose. He cut the old clamp off and replaced it free of charge.
I took the car back for a retest and you guessed it it passed. Here are the final results.
CO 0.008%
HC 14ppm
lambda 1.029
I have been back to the Tyre dealer this morning with a crate of Cider.
So if your Cliosport fails on emissions please check all connections on the exhaust, you could save a small fortune.
