Engine change please help

  Renault Clio
My sons timing belt broke and caused some damage to the engine, the good thing was we found another engine for a good price so we proceeded to change the engine. once the new engine was in the car we noticed a difference. The old engine had a fuel rail with a fuel return pipe on the end under the fuel pressure regulator. The new installed engine had a fuel rail with only the fuel feed pipe on it, ad n fuel return or fuel regulator. So I am left with the fuel return pipe going no where. and I was wondering what do I do with it. I cannot find any diagrams, or advice to help me. Does anyone have any Ideas. Its a Renault Clio 1.2 2000 Reg

Swap your old fuel rail onto the new engine?

Either that, or block up the return and see if it runs alright.

if it runs, no problems. Just need to make sure there's not excess pressure being put though anywhere.

I'd probably use the old fuel rail for completeness.

W never took the engine out of the new car o we could not work out where the fuel pipes were coming from or going to. I will try and run it or a while like you have said with the pipe blocked off Thanks you for the help

If its anything like the 172 Im more used to, then some of them run a regulator in the tank, and some run it on the rail with a return, as Budgie says just use the setup from your old engine.
