Engine Conversion Questions And Quieries..

hi there well i have been thinking about putting a bigger engine in my clio, the reason being is that i have gone from a 180bhp bmw and a vts to a 1.2 clio so its lacking in power, i have always fancied the idea of having a fast sleeper car.
the car is just a mk2 ph1 and is a 1.2, i have been considering selling and getting another car but i just like my clio quite alot but it doesnt have the speed factor im looking for.
so i was just wondering what engine you would recomend that would fit in fairly straight forward id also obviously need gearbox and ecu.
i was also what sort of a budget i would need for this. and is there anybody on here or anybody you know who will perform a engine conversion for me and take my 1.2 with 59000 too im located in Hull and i would travel

not sure if Matt Black still does conversion kits, but he was doing them for 1500 quid for afull 172 conversion kit susp engine etc. Then u would need it fitted though

iirc Matt will actually fit it for you as well. Not 100% sure on the price best giving him a ring.

ok does he have a contact number i wouldnt necessarily want a 172 engine to be honest, would a old valver engine fit or even a williams?

think a willy conversion would be like having a 1.6 as the willy works so well in the lighter mk1&2 body. 150bhp isnt that much in a mk3 as its much fatter!

anything is better than 70bhp is there any other engines out there possibly out of other renaults that would fit? r5 turbo or something?

nonsense, it's infinitely better than the 1.6 and leagues ahead of the 172 engine as well... if I had a choice of my engine on bodies vs a Williams engine and same mods I'd take the Williams engine. Tunes up better, makes over quoted power as standard and torque spread is much better. 172 is like a newer valver engine, no power until driven hard, so the power band is pretty narrow as a result... pretty pants really.
