Engine conversions!

Im either thinking of putting a 1.8 16v engine in or a 5 turbo in, but I am wanting to know exactly what parts I am going to need to change?

I.e, will I need engine, loom, ecu, drive shafts, valver or 5 hubs, then will I need valver or 5 calipers and discs etc?

for a valver in2 an RT u will need:

engine/box, loom, ECU, radiator/fan, fuel pump, driveshafts, brakes, struts(if u havnt modified urs already), and PAS rack.

try and find a smashed valer, i paid £300 for all the bits mentioned above when i done mine!!

im currently having a 5 turbo lump put in my valver, much more fun to drive, but as above, find a donor car, that all have everything you need, instead of buying it separately.

What you mean Steve is he should buy my engine and gearbox and get Torsion Tuning to fit it for him right!! lol

Yer thats what I thought, not too sure where I can pick up these donour cars though and always thought theyd be quite expensive?

You can pick up a 5 turbo for a couple of hundred £ if you look hard enough.

There is a tatty 16v on ebay at the moment for about £250 odd, obviously will go for more but not alot.

Only thing is that while the motor is out you should really get it re-built, just so you know whats going in there.

now you come to mention it , there is a 16v lump that belongs to me being removed about now by torsion, and they also transplant them, so hey presto job sorted. send your cheque to.......

i think your probably best to call torsion, as with 16v conversions they can supply engines as part of price. thing is with 5turbos is there becoming very hard to get hold of. there either sheds or mega money a1 motors.

Cheers lads, but Im not really looking for someone to do it for me, I fancy trying it myself, with a little help from my mates of course!

So basically you guys think I should try and find a donour car, then Ive got everything I need right there?

I am planning on doing this over a year and getting the engine fully rebuilt. Then tuning it up before I put it in the car, so Ive got time to look for a halk decent one and even if its a bit cr*p then its gonna get rebuilt so it doesnt really matter, unless the blocks warped!!

So anyway, where abouts did u find your 5 Brun? I came over to have a look at it on Sun, but didnt really get talking about it!
