Engine cover removal

Car  2003 Clio 172
I've removed my plastic engine cover as it was missing two bolts and I think the engine looks better without it. Bit of a strange question, but do I need to remove the under bonnet carpet material as well, or is it OK to leave in place. I guess I'm just thinking it may get too hot without the engine cover, however I'm assuming the carpet is heat/fire resistant being as it's in the engine bay?

Should be fine where it is, I also assumed it was somewhat fire resistant.

If it's soaked in oil that probably negates any fire resistance of the actual material.

Remove for added acoustic love.

I removed mine because of the induction kit. Made minimal difference from memory
