Engine cutting out

Engine is cutting out after a while driving, car then refuses to start straight away
If left a while it will start again yet will cut out whilst idling aswell
Could it possibly be overfuelling or a sensor?

Wiggle the wires for the crank sensor, if the car dies then you know that's the problem. Quick and simple test.
