Engine Electrical Fault - Please Help!

My engine keeps on cutting off nearly everytime i slow the car down, e.g. to stop at traffic or giveways. The 'Electrical fault and preheating warning light' comes on and a few seconds the engine cuts off. This I have been told is being caused by an electrical problem on the engine.

I have taken it to the garage and had a diagnosis done which indicated on their system a fault with the map sensor and fuel pump. I had the map sensor replaced but this has not solved the problem.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem may be, how to resolve it, and costs involved?

The car is a Clio 2002 reg, 1.2 16 valve

was it a renault garage did they plug it into the cLip system?

sounds like idle control valve.

or does the engine have the drive by wire throttle?

it was not pluged into the renault cLip system, not sure on the throttle link,

found out today the minifold might need to be cleaned.

this is not my car but a firend from work any other ideas please?

samp happened with mine mate, check the wiring to see it has had the recall done on it, just at the back of the map sensor where it goes into a little black box

you said there was a problem with map sensor and fuel pump,but only the sensor was replaced,maybe you need to replace the fuel pump aswell???

throttle body contamination, avoid renault as they are not capable of recytifying the fault.

If your located near Glasgow i can rectify the fault, only other forum use I have sorted this fault on was mike f, he also has an 02 1.2 16V, 3 years of renault arsing around with it and replacing parts done nothing, an hour with me sorted.

When my 182 did this the Lamda sensor connector had come off so it wasn't getting a reading of the exhaust gas.
