Engine & gearbox mounts etc

Could do with getting some new engine mounts and a dog-bone as there is a bit of rocking/knocking when turning the engine off.

Looked on K Tecs site and there are a variety of different things... Uprated engine mounts, standard ones and various bushes also.

Should I be getting the the £100 uprated mounts? Or go again for standard replacements? Is it worth changing the bushes at the same time as well?

Also what about the gearbox mounts? I hear alot about dog-bone mounts but not sure where to get them from? I could do with one of those as well.

I went with the ktec uprated ones and powerflex dogbone mount, They're good VFM IMO, bit of increased vibration but not enough to be a pain in the arse.

My car does my tits in as a daily anyway so a bit more vibration wont harm lol

My dogbone mount was annoying on my old cup. A full set would be bad on a daily drive imo

they make the whole car vibrate like a b*****d

standard eveything with a powerflex dogbone is all you need

Do you mean the purple powerflex mounts in the dogbone mount?

I've got them fitted to mine, I can live with it and the vibrations have calmed down now they've bedded in. Did contemplate the uprated upper gearbox and engine mount but the price of them has put me off.

For the first 500 miles yes but they do soften up to the point where the dash stops talking too you :rasp:

One of my fav up-grades on mine ;)

Thanks Fred. Where is best to get these items from? Ktec's prices for standard mounts good or a bit pants? Also, where do you get the Powerflex dogbone from? Direct from poweflex?

Yes. It was ok, but slightly annoying. I can only imagine a whole set as overkill on a roadcar bbbrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr at every traffic light. Pass thanks :)

You only get the bushes, they need to be fitted to your mount. Ie old Renault bushes pressed out, new powerflex ones pressed in

I've found EuroCarParts to be the cheapest for standard engine mounts. Larkspeed were the cheapest for the powerflex mounts.

Hacksaw and a hammer worked for me  Lol

you want the purple ones for a Ph2

the KTEC uprated ones aren't that bad for the job they do, although i'd go with Fred's if the prospect of increased vibration's an issue (tried both setups myself)

What about the actual engine mounts? On KTEC the standard engine mounts are listed as singular. But I thought the two main mounts were different.

i would say go standard as you no that they are not to hard and wont end up makeing somethink eles weak ~~~~???

  182 f/f
Hi guys, newbie here, just picked up my 182 yesterday (bought it off a top class bloke - ferret on here). She's an 04 with 82K on the clock - been well looked after but reckon she needs all new mounts as there is a big clunk when u change gear under power and a lot of wibble wobble on tickover at the lights.

Think I want to just put all standard Renault bushes/mounts as I want the 182 to be as relaxing, smooth as possible (I'm getting old!!)

is it ok to just fit all standard Renault parts? How much time should it take a decent mecanic to fit em? (rough idea of price??)

really appreciate any advice on this lads
cheers

Larkspeed were s**t for me though, Only took about 2 weeks IIRC to send me a pair of bushes :S and they are only down the road in Leeds.

my ktec ones TBH i cant say vibrate much now, If you dont give enough gas when setting off yeah theyre a little unforgiving and the dash shakes lol but if you drive it as you should its fine and no different other than it feels tight,

My powerflex ones purple too, You have to tap the old bush out of the dogbone to fit it but its no biggie, Shouldnt even take you 20 mins to do it.

KAM racing are bloody good with their delivery, had a set of pads pretty much next day lol

and as for changing the mounts, you could swap them over in less than an 1 1/2 if you put your mind to it and thats been generous
