Engine has spat a plug out

  2004 iceberg 172
Hi my engines decided to spit a plug out, can it be helicoiled with the head on, or is it a head off/timing belt job ? Or is there any other options ?

There are a few places that can do it head on. I can't for the life of me think of any of them. I have read threads on here about it so have a search.

i think they insert a inflatable bag and then heli coil then suck everything out, if that makes sense.

Cool....will go round a few garages on Monday then, was panicking abit incase the head had to come off, I wouldn't of repaired it if that was the case

i woulent like to have it done with the head on, yeh its cheaper but if any little bits of the head get in it would cause damage over time if not straight away :(

I agree with what you are saying but I think if it is done carefully its not so bad. It's really up to the OP but was giving the info that it could be done. But if you are going to have the head off its going to cost maybe £200 plus labour all in maybe £400 - £500 if your lucky. That's a lot of money just in case it causes an issue.

I agree with the above, Tbh it would cost way too much for me to have the head taken off, new belts, head gasket + labour, the cars out off mot in a couple of days, so it just wouldn't be worth fixing in my opinion, I'd be looking at £600/£700 just to put it back on the road
if it can be done with the head on, I'm happy to gamble and get it done on the cheap

Yup, seen it before where a new plug torques back up fine and works like nothing ever happened. Luck of the draw really

it really wouldn't do any damage. any small bits would get blown straight out the exhaust.

If you need to take the head off might be easier to get a scond hand head a just do a straight swap
