Engine Knock

  Clio 172 phase 1
Hi, wondering if someone could help me, i recently bought a Clio 172 phase 1, my first renault. When I'm giving the car some welly and it breaks traction there is sometimes a knocking noise coming from it, or if the wheels become light like almost airbourne it is doing the same. Could it be a knackered engine mount?
Also is there any well known weak points to these cars? iv heard they are bad for breaking engine mounts and driveshafts? any help is appreciated!

Get underneath it and have a look at the lower gearbox mount, you will proabably find that it is shagged.

Don't floor it in 1st - yes we've all done it when we first got the car - lol that's how I noticed I needed an upper engine mount and driveshaft when I bought mine so it was "both" symptoms in that case but was sorted under dealer warranty :)
Not as if it was big mileage either - I bought my car with less than 18k on it!

You won't know for sure until you've had a good look around it & underneath :)
