Engine knocks

Guys, its been happening a lot recently, when i let off, the engine nocks quite loudly and you can feel it throught the gear stick, pedals and steering wheel - when i come to a stop and put her in neutral or just supply no reves, the nocking is terrible - not loud outside the car but it rattles loads - im thinking it could be the cat? Any ideas?

Sounds like your dogbone mount may need replacing. They wear over time resulting in more play in the engine under acelleration etc.. The gearstick moving or even popping out of gear is a good indication that its the dogmount. I recently replaced mine with a hillpower uprated one - £40 i think it cost.

Also jack your car up and check the lower 2 engine mounts.

Im not too sure where these engine mounts are - i know the clamp is at the top on the drivers side - im thinkning it may also be the gearbox mount - it may sound fookin stupid but where is the dogmount thingy?? What is it?
