engine light help

While driving home from southend sat night, my engine light came on. Kept going into limp mode but was ok after i turned the engine off and on again.
Put my snapon diagnostic tool on it and came up with:
257 - Destructive misfire
278 - throttle position sensor
I take it ill need a new throttle body but can anyone help with the misfire???

throttle postion sensor is on the acclerator pedal isnt it?

misfire could be the coil pack or spark plugs. I'd try the plugs first as its the cheapest option.

new plugs already. new throttle body on order to eliminat that.
but DESTRUCTIVE misfire souds bad

Have the plugs cleared the fault? If not coil pack next.

The TPS is on the pedal assembly afaik.

yep. Throttle postion sensor is not the Throttle Body. I think you orderd the wrong part. postion sensor is on the accelerator pedal. Check the plug on it.
