Engine Light

Hi folks ive been driving my sisters mk2 clio for a while now. Recently the engine light has come on and its developed a missfire. I changed the spark plugs in hope it was these. Im told its the coil by a few on other clio forums. I also tried out the pressing of the stalk button. It revealed to no "t"'s or "h"'s so before i go fork out buying new coils i thought id ask on here first. I would take it for a diagnostics test but dont fancy paying renault £75 odd just to plug in a laptop LOL.

The car is a 04plate 1.416v

Any help would be greatfull.
