Been having problems for ages now with the car randomly cutting out at junctions, but it doesn't happen as much now because I know that every time I stop, if I keep the revs up a bit it doesn't usually do it.
Lately the engine management light keeps coming on when I'm slowing down and almost stopped, and unless I rev the engine, it cuts out. After I've pulled away the light goes off again. I was driving home today and the light came on and the car cut out. It would start up again for another few minutes. Then every time I slowed down again, the light would come back on. I also noticed that the red light by the gearstick was constantly on?
I've noticed that the engine management light seems to come on more if I'm stopped on a slope. My grandmas driveway is on a slope and every time I reverse off of the drive, the light comes on and the car cuts out. Same thing happens when I come out of my local petrol station and have to stop on a slope.
Sometimes I'll go to start the car and it just won’t start. I have to leave it for half an hour, and then it starts completely normally. Other times, it starts fine but the revs go really low and it cuts out. Also, every time I drive up to London, the car will be fine the whole way there, but once I get there and turn the engine off, it won't start again for a while.
It's got to the point where I don't wanna drive the car when the roads are busy because it seems to hate stop start traffic.
Any help on what it could be? I didn't know whether it would be worth replacing the TDC sensor to see if that works?
