Engine Management Light Flashes

  2007 Clio
Hey!

Noticed over past few days that on idle, my mk3 1.4 Dymanique's revs are a bit variable.

The revs dont go above 1000 like, just up and down below 1000, it's noticable to be sluggish.

Today, the engine management light flashed for maybe 10 seconds then went away when I was sitting at the lights, the car did not go into limp mode.

The car has another month of warranty left from Arnold Clark so it will be going back when they are open.

Just want any ideas what can be wrong with it?

I have smelled the scent of fuel when I get out the car on a few occasions recently (note that the exhaust fumes do not smell of fuel and the tailpipe is not covered in soot)

Ideas?

Thanks.

Its flashing to let you know there is a fault with either the fuelling or ignition system that could potentially damage the CAT. It could be a few things really but without diagnostics you're not gonna know for sure. Just send it back to AC as it's their problem.

Thanks mate it's defo going back.

I want to get the code(s) read before I give them it back so they cant bullshit me and repair it on the cheap as after 1 month then its not their problem.

What code reader will do the job and where to get it? thanks again

any decent generic kit will do that is intended for professional use as there may not actually be a fault code stored (Launch, Snap-On, Bosch, Delphi). Ultimately non of these will be able to tell you the various engine status levels (not that you will proberbly need this info for this kind of fault) as this is CLIP level kit only. Chances are it'll be an Ho2 sensor or coilpack issue.

Fault was random misfire.

Its in arnold clark now, needs 2 egnition coils.. emissions light was on too.
