engine management problems

has happend twice in a week or so, drive the car for a short trip ( i.e to the shops) turn it off come back to it start it up and then the engine management light comes on , it runs lumpy , up and down on the revs etc then coughs and cuts out so i have to start it back up , hold it at about 2k then the light will go out after a short while and it the idles normaly at .5k now im thinking it could be something like a lamba sensor or the air flow meter any ideas please ?

many thanks

Justin.

yeh tell me about it fred , already had the clasic where the metal box protecting the engine looms try to shear through the loom

Out of interest, how old is your car?
Only, i've got a 1.2 16v and its now 13 months old without a single problem, electrical or other?

could be spark plugs theres a tech note out on this if its got a certain number on the plugs then they need changing. this brings the light on and misfires lack of power etc.

does it make a dodgy clicking noise from the drivers front light when u cut the engine?

just had it serviced using all gen ren parts so i dont thikn it would be plugs, ben no cliking that i am aware of as the clicking came up on a previous prob i have had with it.

had this last week. exhaust emission light came on, but ended up being plugs instead of the sports cat - which was a relief

ring round all your local garages and try to find an 'independant renault specialist' as they normally have the CLiP system needed to do the diagnosis. ive got one local to me in stoke, who charges 25 for a full test - versus 75 at the local renault

unfortunatly the prob cam back this morning , only once and di not seem as severe as before, think i will get some diagnostic tests done when i get back off holiday in a week or so.
