engine problem

i have a clio 172, sometimes when i hit 5000rpm the car starts to make a noise like its hitting the limiter and doesnt go above 5000rpm, then sometimes smoke comes out the exhaust. does anyone know what could cause this?
ive heard maybe the inside of the cat has collapsed and is restricting the car?
has anyone else had this problem or know what it could be? thanks

lambda sensor making car run too rich (smoke) left to long will also kill your cat.

How do a sort that?

Change the sensor.

Change it.

I'd get it on a diagnostic first to make sure that is the problem.
