Engine Rebuild.. talk to me?

Well after some bad luck, i recon my engine is on its way out.

So looking to have my engine rebuilt so its nice and fresh and hopefully i wont have to worry about anything for a good while.

i had always planned on a rebuild but maybe not this soon however, i have a few questions:

How much should i be looking to pay for an engine rebuild?

What parts would you recommend upgrading? would you stick some upgraded cams or hi comp pistons in while doing it? and how much extra would it cost (roughly)

Any other advice etc appreciated. and i wont be doing it myself its going to a specialist for all the work.

Thanks

Bad times

I would rebuild with hi comp cams and maybe itb's

But it would be cheaper to buy another engine from eBay ect

May be able to sort you a deal on forged rods hi comp and itb's pm me LOL

Engine dynamics do a fairly decent price on a rebuild maybe worth having a look over the site for more ideas

I had a read at the engine dynamics one seem like an ok price. Is that the going rate? will be phoning around some specialists on monday to try and sort something out.

im not hunting power or anything tbh just want a fresh engine.

If you're not hunting power then I'd rebuild as standard and maybe add some arp bolts. Anything else will add expense. Even in standard form though it's not cheap. There's a recent rebuild engine for sale on the forum.

My recommendation for a fast road rebuild would be ARP rod bolts and a well chosen set of cams and leave the rest stock, but to the best standard you can manage. Maybe headwork and matched inlets, and also balancing as the next stages. all of that should give you a strong engine which will do well on it's own, or leave you with an ideal point to move on to ITB's etc should you so wish

If your not after power be a lot cheaper and easier to find a decent stock engine.

Your talking serious amounts of wedge for a rebuild.

decent stock engines are getting few and far between because everyone throws away anything broken. I bought my car after it's replacement engine lasted 2 weeks before starting to knock and the seller wanted rid of it as fast as physically possible
