  Clio 172 cup
hi, i'm wanting to respray the engine plenum and rocker cover on my 172 cup but wondering if its safe to remove the top engine mount and leave it sat on the dogbone mount while i paint? or will the engine need holding up with a jack underneath? thanks

  Whichever has fuel
You can't remove the rocker cover like a normal car, the cambelts got to come off. Most just paint them in situ.

You can remove the L/H/S engine mount, but use a lump of wood and a jack to support the engine from underneath.

  Now Sold :-(
Engine will need support if you remove the top mount. Jack under the sump with wood between jack and sump.
Note from the title you may be thinking of removing the "rocker cover" DO NOT DO THIS as the top cover holds the cams in place.
