Well, this is going to be a bit of an essay i'm afraid as i want to explain the whole situation... but here goes.
At the moment i have a 1.2 8v 1998 clio RN, as you can imagine not the most fun thing to drive, so i have been looking at changing the engine out for one out the the mk2 ph2's, 1.4 16v i hope....
The situation is basically, i have a good friend who has worked as a mechanic for over a year now and works for another friends dad. Anyway... he has 0 mechanics tools, but he has had a lot of experience. (Done two engine transfers, one was auto to manual, works there everyday and i would definately trust him) He has made me a deal that he would do me this transplant for free on the term that i buy him a basic starter 150£ mechanics tool kit, just to get him started.
So my questions are:
Is the proposed engine transfer really that difficult to do?
How much will i be needing to pay on engine with everything i'll need?
Does this sound like a good deal or too much of a risk to some of you?
All comments/help appreciated, cheers.
