Engine transplant for a Mk1 1.2L

I love my car, but want more power.
What engines could be fitted in a mk1 1.2L Clio?
How much work and component changes would be needed for each type of engine.

Thanks in advance.:star:

not worth it. Mk1's are so cheap now just upgrade. Insurance will probably more expensive than the car which the engine originally came from as well.

Well, my mk1 is fully modded and I'm not sure how many mods would be usable on, for example a Clio 1.8. Is the body exactly the same on a higher powered model so long as the mk and phase are the same? E.g. would I be able to easily fit my 1.2 exhaust on a 1.8.

You could quite easily fit a 1.8 16v engine to your 1.2

As said though would probably end up cheaper jsut to buy one. And the 1.8 16v and williams have wder arches front and rear, bonnet vent better interior amongst other little things.

easiest of all is to swap it for a 1.4 as they arethe same engine pretty much. however the gains arn't all that much but still better than 1.2! however if you were going to do it got for somehting bigger that's worth doing however the 1.2 and 1.4 have no visual difference so insurance company may not have to know!

Just by a half decent 1.8 RSI for about £700 and swap the bits over. Cheaper than an engine transplant then selling your then standard 1.2 should get you about £500 or whatever theyre worth. Plus easier on insuracne and stuff :)

Would this just be a straight swap or would other components need changing?
