I have a mk2 1.2 clio, my engine is getting on a bit, 102000 but sounding a bit worse for wear, so I was wondering about maybe just putting a lower mileage one in?? Is this going to be worth it at all as I cant afford to be getting a new car. and how much would this normally cost?

They all sound like that mate, its a 1.2 thing and they tap like mad.

Depending on the age you may simply need to get the tappets adjusted and that will quieten things down alot but in general those 1.2's go FOREVER as long as they have belts fluids and filters changed on time.

Ah cheers, I have no idea when anything was last changed so I'm desperately trying to get it serviced as soon as I can and hope that it keeps going strong!!
