Not a fan, my lady boss had no end of trouble with hers.

The alarm would go off randomly so many different issues!

Gave up and bought another Merc.

We mainly have seals go, they leak and cause problems with the windows, alarms etc, once the new type seals have been fitted they are ok

Ah so it could have been a seals probelm? Her windows used to drop down randomly and stuff.

Yeah mate i would say, we have had a few convenience ECU's give up, but more problems due to water ingress, though these later style seals seem to fix it all

HR manager has one in light bluie and its quite nice tbh.

Imagine a kid put their poking figures in the mechanism though...

Impressive. But that's a nightmare just waiting to break? Surely the whole point of having the 'elegance' and functionality of a folding roof is that you don't want to see how it works?

I remember when these things first came out. The VW garage near us had a black one, parked up outside with a £29k+ price tag on it. WTF?!

D.

  It's A Reno
Do you specify any customer maintenance of the seals ( cleaning, applications etc).
A mate has a Focus convertable and hed no end of problems with it but found a squirt of Autoglym rubber care did wonders. My idea btw. :D

Damned impressive mechanism btw.

It seems like a ridiculously over contrived mechanism to me. Why make it some complicated? what purpose does it actually serve?

Can't be any worse than the Megane Coupe Colanders for leaks!

Customer: I have the occassional drip of water onto my head when braking/ corning is this something to worry about.

Me: You seem to have one of the good ones, do not whatever you do under any circumstances mess about with it!

yes, we have some Cryotox which expandsthe seals and keeps them from drying out

It does eem complicated, but i think the main difference is all the mech is on show with the Eos, a lot of manufacturers hide all the moving bits lol.

And to be fair to VW, its a fantastic system, iv seen Eos's with over 100k on, and the roof operates as smooth as one in for its PDI

  a burnt one
Interesting that the seals are having the same problem as the Mk4 Golf, i really thought this would have been fixed before now.

I've had no end of trouble with alarms and doors unlocking/locking at impromptu times.

  Turbos.
Bit of a joke that major manufacturers can have leaking problems with the roofs.

I don't see how people struggle to grasp the point of folding hard tops though. People are stopped from buying soft top convertibles because of worries over security and how the British weather will effect the cloth when let outside. Scuttle shake won't be as bad either.

I think the Eos is a pretty good looking car personally, much better than the Focus and Megane.

It's definitely better looking Rob.

My brother was doing 6 focus cc recalls a week not long ago, simple seal issue again.

I like folding hard tops, I don't like soft tops at all.
