Epson printer problems

  172
I have an epson cx3650 which uses 4 cartridges. The colour's have all run out but i still have plenty of black ink. It's not letting me print in just black & white just prompts me to buy new cartridges! is there any way i can get around this?

Thanks, Gav

Yep you'll have to buy some ink. It uses the ink to cool the print heads as it prints so they tend to melt otherwise, and black isn't just only black I don't think. (stupid as it sounds)

I have similar rpobs all the time with Epsons, If my Gloss optimizer runs out even if you dont need it you have to replace it its a right pain.

You use the durabrite catridges yes?

I dont have one of these personally but you can buy a chip resetter which allows you to tell the cartrige it is full. When i shake my cartridges there is still some ink in there but it says they are empty. A bit of a con.
The resetter is really for people who buy a tubs of CMYK inks and charge the carts themselves, the chip resets the cart and away you go.

The thing I found with epson printers is do not leave them starved of ink for long or they clog up and not even rotoring pen cleaning fluid will unblock them, on my third printer now!
