Epson Printer

We have an Epson Printer at work. I never print in colour but it wont let me print in black and white until i replace the colour print cartridges.

Even in total black and white does it use a little colour?

Wtf? I have a stash of black cartridges but have run out of cyan etc.

Is there a way around it rather than keep buying colour cartridges or a new printer.....

Our HP in the house is the same. Hasn't been used since. Picked up a mono printer from work.
I don't think there's a way round it.

Ink or laser?

It prints CMYK.
Black = C 75 M 68 Y 67 B 90
if you can select greyscale then it shoukd just print Black at 100%

If you never print in colour you'd be far better off with a small Mono laser printer. Never looked back since I got one.
