The cues are obvious though if you look.

looks like its the return of the flared rear arches that were lost on the last model. (that could be the disguise, but i doubt it as renault disgises are rubbish)

Megane rs big front grille, simliar fog pods.

We already are 90% sure it will have 190-200bhp and will weigh around 150-200kg more.

That exhaust design looks like its been made like that to accomodate a spare wheel well too.

But afaik its still not been signed off.

I actually like that! The only bit Im not so keen on is the lower grille between the fogs, I dont like it divided in half. Im sure the final version will look different anyway.

Well looking at that i think the 182 is the last great Renault hot hatch.

Who cares if its got an extra 10 bhp when its probably going to be heavier and look w**k.

We all hated the Mk2 172 when it came out remember, and quite a few of us bought them in the end. Hated the new Megane too when it first appeared, but its got lots of fans now. I doubt Renault will be so daft as to introduce an ugly Clio.

At the end of the day what with the all build quality issues etc does anyone here have any brand loyalty?

In two and a half years time when I come to buy my next car I will do exactly what I did six months ago. I will compare all the models on the market and buy the one that gives the best bang per buck.


So I dont really care if Renault make the next Clio heavier but with only a tiny power increase as I will just buy the new shape CTR, ICR or whatever happens to about.

Well being a v6 owner, I have never gone for "The best Bang per buck" myself....lol

If the new clio really is 200kgs heavier with 200bhp? it will have less power to weight than it has now...? strange?

Renault need to aim for 1100kg maximum for the full fat leather seat/climate control model. Regardless of BHP the low weight is essential for handling.

As for power, I wouldnt really want to give a figure. I would worry if they got 200bhp out of the existing engine or a slight evolution of it. I have driven other 2 litre cars that have more power than my 182 (e.g. CTR) but I found this extra power always came at the expense of power and torque delivery - to the point where even a six speed box couldnt fully over come it.

I really do think they should increase the capacity to 2.2 litres or look at forced induction.

think its got potential hope it looks well different to the normal clio too, i was gonna change my 1.2 for a 1.4 16v but ill jus wait a couple year n save for that instead, atleast its really "a new car" looks like rs megane at front if so ill have it, jus change the rear end!

Lets hope its got 6gears, is put together better, with parts available in this country in the LOL unlikely event of needing a replacement and that all extras are released at the same time as the new car....e.g. rearo seats etc

as far as toyopops best bang for buck comment. i agree to some extent but its nice not to be a brand whore sometimes and stick with the club. if i had for example bought and LCR i could end up being a right tw*t

Ive never been a fan of the mk2 clios, too bubbly, and the mk2 ph2, although i didnt like them at first, and still would much rather have a mk1, they are growing on me.

I totally agree with almost everyone here - but for my 2 bucks, I think it looks like a yaris with a hefty dose of Peugot thrown in - and I dont like peugot - they suck.

Oh well - Ill just have to keep hold of my loveable 182 which I like the look of and especially the feel of every day of the week - bar none.



I am a bit concerned though that I may have bought my last Renault - Cos at the moment the 182,172 and obviously V6 are the only Renaults I like and have liked since the 19 16v and the williams. However, there might come a time when like the williams and 19 that the 172, 182s will look dated and then I will have no option but to go for a Vel Satis - yeh f**king right!. Only kidding what I meant to say is Im off to another brand cos I will have no option. Im really not a fan of the Megane in any guise and the new Clio - f**k Me - My love affair is over.

the new clio is supposed to be coming out soon, its supposed to look like the megane 2 chspe at the front which is not so bad, and they are doing more work on the engine so it reckon it will be more than 190 bhp, we can see what cars are coming out when where before thay are released, like the new laguna,

Platform sharing is VERY different to badge engineering.
