Escort RS turbo KILLED!

went to get some petrol, as i came off by-pass i notice an RS turbo going the opposite way to me, turn into the petrol station and so does he(he must have turned around) as i fill up he is parked up? how weird is that? think he was waiting to race! anyway as i come out after paying he shoots off. so i quickly fire up the engine and get behind him, sure enough he leads us onto the by-pass! i leave it in first going round the roundabout hoping that he would be fair and level up before booting it. he didnt, and in my attempts to go round corner and get power down if first i light up the wheels, second still no traction and he is pulling away, put it into third and start reeling him in, into fourth and im catching up, by fifth im on his back bumper, he moves over and i go past, so i slow down again, he pulls up along side and we boot it(in 3rd) and bye-bye escort! it was only made so satisfying cos he was obviously looking for a race!

i raced a white one that shot flames now and again it was comedy, it was quick but i had to keep easing off in every gear... quite funny really

Escort RS Turbo Mk 1 completely oblitarated my 16v and a mates R5, im surprised u caught him at all. Well in though. ;)

this was an S2, the S1s usually have somat special under the hood, i wasnt impressed, 16vs should piss all over the RS turbo, 0-60 of 8 sec or somat!

Yeah, still never count your chickens when its Turbod cause they may have jus slaped an almighty wind turbine under the bonnet. Still, well done for rising to the challenge.

But turbo lags half the fun! Mine is like a 1.4 under 3000rpm, then lights the front tyres up all the way through :D

Makes things tricky in the damp/wet/snow/anything but sunny summer days, but thats what makes it enjoyable. Plus, its very LOUD ;)

I still think its strange how a G-reg Ford seems to intimidate other drivers, even when Im on my bestest behaviour - probably something to do with the TV portrayal of all thugs and yobbos driving XR3is...?!

Anyway, youll be pleased to know that I actually prefer a valver/williams to my Turbo when it comes to steering feel and chassis response, though the turbos better for long distance, high-speed travel. Longer gearing means a more relaxed ride and (slightly) better fuel consumption. (ok, ok, marginally!) If I was rich Id have both. But Im not. Which is why I have neither (until I scrape together the cash to fix mine...)

*sigh* :)

i reckon the rs turbo was standard, cos a simple chip filter exhaust n the power could be up to around 195 bhp, which would p.i.s.s. all over your 16v

Red16, i raced another one tonight, shat all over it. it was an organised race, some guy starts it off etc. i should have video evidence soon, they do not impress me at all. the ones i have raced may have been standard, but i have now raced three, and beat....sorry killed three.

I posted a while back about beating a RS turbo from stand still and a rolling start. But it must have beenj totally standard or wanked!!

Tuned ones are FAST. Tryed racing this black one. Once the boost came on he was torque steering everywhere got lined up and Whoose off he went. I didnt even bother following!! He was gone!!

  silver valver/hybrid

my mate has a 220 bhp severn valley motorsport escort rs turbo, and it is incredibally quick, when he first had it, it would spin the tryes in the dry through the first 3 gears. Unfortunately pushing that much power through an old 1.6 engine has taken its toll, he has spent about £1500 on new parts and its still dead on his driveway.
