ESP/ABS Fault

Morning,

I jumped in my clio this morning and the spanner light is on with the display saying check abs and check esp.
The front brakes are stuck on.
Would be grateful if anyone can explain how to sort this out.
It is -6 outside if that helps.

Give the connector under the handbrake lever a wiggle, there is a thing called the hairline switch, this can affect the ESP/abs.

The brakes are stuck on?? as in the car wont move at all?

This is on a MkIII I'm guessing? If so it needs CLIP before you do anything drastic/destructive.
