next time you are out and the road is greasy accelerate hard (in a straight line) and youll see the light flash and notice the wheels stop spinning, this is the car telling you the ESP is sorting out the spinning wheels.
nope lol, its on unless you switch it off, youll find this is the case with most driver aids on cars. BMWs are the same traction stays on until you switch it off and you have to turn sport mode on on the M3s everytime you switch off the ignition it resets and when you start the car next time they will all be on again until you turn them off.
must admit the roads are so sh*t at the moment ive left it switched on its not as if im driving hard, no doubt ill switch it off in the dry when im driving hard but in the meantime i really dont see the point switching it off.
Unless youre really hooning about, which tbh I would advise against in this weather, youre unlikely to notice any difference as the Clios ESP system gives a reasonable amount freedom before cutting in!
Although saying this in current conditions its nice to know its there! Got a bit out of shape on a round-about over the weekend (not pushing on, just 3 degrees C and particularly slippy) and the rear end stepped out, I dialled in a bit of opposite lock and the ESP then cut in, making catching it pretty straight forward - on what was a very slippy road.
However......Im wary about these ESP systems...as they can lull some people into a false sense of security (a sense of invicibility) - numbing true driving ability, its good to know where the true limits of the car are AND how it reacts....so I recommend that you get out on the track and turn the ESP off.
