Yeah, same happened to me last night. M3 was flooded, and it was a case of driving in the deep ruts in the inside lane with the ESP flashing away. Not much fun, time to fit those new front tyres I think.....

It pissed down last night, on my way home going up the dual carrigeway there was a huge build up of water on the road, which i didnt see untill i was in it!! i would have been wedged into the crash barrier if it wasnt for the esp!!

It does make you appreciate just how good ESP is in situations like that. Obviously the real answer is to slow down and drive to the conditions, but when you are hitting invisible pools of water it could still be a life saver.

i came round a bend doing bout 40 in the wet and aqualplaned off the road, just caught it as i was sliding towards a fence, shat a brick

scary how it picks up speed as u go over the water, lack of friction i guess lol

On the Barton Bridge on the M60 a few weeks back and doing 70 ( ;) ) and hit a torrent of water......wheels spinning for about 3 seconds and pants ruined !

I've had a few situations where i have been dragged about completely out of control by standing water on motorways. One time at about 11pm i was almost fully sideways and though that was it, i was going to die!

I notice bad bits on the fast lane where the outside dips down filling with water and you can get dragged towards the barrier...s**t scary!

My mate aquaplaned on the motorway doing 80 mph, needless to say he crashed, gave the car a totally new look, and the funny bit was...(wait for it....) he was driving a Porsche Boxster S!

Thats clears that up then. RS's are better than Porsches (in the wet)...

He now owns a 911 Carrera S ;)

Tyson.

To be fair though, I think if you hit standing water in a straight line and start to aquaplane, the best thing to do is just come off the gas, and not touch anything (steering or brakes), regardless of ESP.
I had the same problem last night too - it kept knocking my cruise control off!
