Estimate cost to make a 172 rep?

Car  work for BMW
Just wondering roughly how much it would cost to use a 1.2 dynamique and make it a rep by buying and aattempting to fit myself!
172 rear bumper
Cup spoiler
sport grill
turinis
splitter
coilovers?

Just want a rough cost or maybe it's cheaper to find a cheap 172 ?

excuse me! mine has'nt cost that much lol. ( mine hasnt the skirts or sport wings btw ) :)

Ye but you work at a bodyshop! , costs:

Cup spoiler £120
Front bumper £100
rear bumper £60
Turinis £400-500 (with tyres)
Skirts £50
Arch liners £50
Wings £60 a pair
Upper rs grill £45
Coilovers £400 for a decent set
Then the painting / prep / fitting etc is going to be £700-1000.

Soon adds up.

Very true I haven't even considered mods on insurance , might give them a Ring and ask, Well I'm selling my 182 for another clio but cheaper so I have monies for travelling. Thinking a phase1 172..so cheap now a days

What you're selling your 182 for a 1.2 to turn into a 172 rep? I'm usually on the other guys side but f**king hell.

Could be a false economy.

Unless you've got issues with the 182 you risk buying up another motor that's hiding it's own number of big-ticket problems.

The money you could potentially put in the pocket (which, in fairness, wont be huge), could soon be sucked up in bills

just having a look at different options. Just was wondering the costs involved that's all :)

im a sparky by trade but i do help out at a mates bodyshop/garage.

suppose it does add up for the FULL rep, mines only half rep.

I was thinking that ,thou 172 insurance will be 400 more

Got pics raz?

havent got pictures of it finished yet cus im to lazy to finish it lol.

but dan has got it almost down to a ball park figure, if not a guestimate.

what about a mk2 ph3 like bonxy's ( if thats his name ) that clio looked epic.

No harm in looking, totally.

I reckon you'd be disappointed if you wound up with a 1.2 Lies edition though. Maybe a boost-tweaked Dci or something, at least then you'll be getting better MPG's with at least some sort of poke to play with.

you forgot the interior, i have a full 172 half leather interior for sale, including all plastics etc. will be up for sale soon as i become a full member

just for peoples info,
im paying £850 for my 182 insurance.. i rang up my insurers and they quoted £850 for a 1.2 dynamique with 172 bumper, alloy wheels and lowered LOL whats the point

There is no point, at all.

Which is what makes replicas so completely laughable. Stick with what you've got fella, at least you know it's runnng well. A cheap Clio is an expensive Clio.

Selling a 182 to make a 172 rep must be about the best idea since buying a second car to save money to buy coilovers for an R26.

LOL! This is what a lot of people (Not a dig at you) don't realise when they think it's much cheaper to spend thousands on making a 1.2 look better because they can't afford the 1*2 insurance.

A modified car is going to be expensive to insure.

Now there's something I've not heard in a long time.

Ah, lBrench, you were, indeed, r****d.

@Chip - Seriously dude, you're giving away too many "great" ideas

Buy a written off 1*2, steal the body parts, put them on the 1.2 and break the rest.

or be cheap like me and fit the 172 rear bumper £70 and the front bumper £90 :)

if youre interested i payed £120 for coilovers and £300 (without tyres) for the turinis

Yea didn't realise at all, glad I had a look just to get the knowledge I guess. It's completely crazy how insurance gets so high so for a few mods. Gonna keep my 182 for a while longer I feel. Thanks for the help

People with modified car are statistically much more likely to drive like weapons.
so its not that the car becomes a bigger risk, but that it implies the owner is.

why not just buy an escort and stick an escort cosworth kit on it, dont see the point in reps myself.

The kits never seem to include the rear quarters coming up higher to meet the boot spoiler like on the real thing, which makes them very easy to spot.
