Excessive flex with EPAS torsion bar (ecu??)

This became a big problem recently which Is way I just went to manual column. When youd turn there would still be power steering, but its as if there wasnt enough power from the motor and you could just keeping turning the wheel without gaining any output after the column (torsion bar flex) I thought it could be something like the ecu and the torque sensors not configured properly, so it wouldnt feed the right assistance even though the torsion bar was twisting. Or that the motor just isnt strong enough, but It seems like this started to happen rather than it being like that from the get go. I just went manual and didnt blindly buy another ecu to try out because I dont want to throw any more money at it.

@billinjah Have you had a chance to try different motors or ecus out? Im building my hpas quick rack regardless but would be good to know.
