Exhaust advice.

  Clio 172
Looking into buying a new exhaust for 2000 X plate 172, The indended use is evryday car and some Track days/Hillclimb sprints occasionally. So i'm looking at getting something that will release some BHP but not be too noisy i'm 37 and like my hearing the way it is.

Any suggestions?.

K-Tec Mild Steel Stealth, has a slight roar to it with the cat in place (like I have it) but isnt loud for A road trips. The Stainless version is 2.5" bore thus louder than the mild steel. Search my threads as I posted up a rough video of the noise of it, bit rough tho but you get an idea at least.

Its a ph1 which has the twin cat (some late ones have the single cat). You just need to get the ph1 system as its a different length than the ph2 system because of the cat difference.

Wrong way round. Earlier ones had the single, later ones had the twin.

That cant be right as the de-cats are the same length just the ph2 de-cats need 2 lambda sensors.

Those ugly twin cats need 1 so need a de-cat with 1, the single pipe cats need 2.

Ah you mean just the actual cat. Soz, miss read, thought you were meaning the system

Edited:

Twin cats run 2 lambda's on the actual cat

This is an X plate 00 car and the twin cat only has 1 lambda sensor at the front, I think its 2 if the car has OBD is this correct?.

But it is the right cat isn't it?

Yes lol. not sure why we are talking about cats, I was more on about the guy that thought the cat-back exhausts need to be a different length depending what cat you have... which is incorrect.

Silenced decat and exhaust will free it up a bit.

2.5'' Ktec exhaust has a telescopic front pipe for adjustability so will fit all types

Never knew they did 2 types of twin

Mines defo from a ph1 as the car was bought new so wonder if your ones from a ph2 172 maybe?

Very strange :S

LOL yeah they are heavy and mine definitly has only one lambda, All removed now and Ktec Decat and Supersport in its place just got to refit my manifold now that the cracked pipe has been welded!.
