Exhaust fitting - should my mechanic have used exhaust paste/sealant?

  Fabia vrs tdi
hello can anyone tell me if its ok not to put exhaust paste or whatever on my new exhaust?

i dont think my mechanic used anything i think he just bolted it on and made sure it was all tight and not blowing anywhere, not gonna be happy if it needs to get on the ramp and get this stuff applied to it

thank you

As said, if it's not blowing, it'll be fine without.

If you do need to use anything though, make sure it's the silicone style sealant. The paste just crumbles off after 3 weeks.

any "mechanic" or anyone in general that uses paste (s**t like gungum/fireseal etc) needs a swift kick in the genitals - its crap

use silicone or don't bother

Just normal cheap clear silicone from Travis Perkins or the like. Don't worry about the temperature effecting it, it will never get near hot enough to degrade it. Ive used it on my vee with no problems, a 700bhp hot rod, a Mk5 Golf R32, an S5....all with out problems.
