I am thinking about getting a mongoose exhaust for my 172.. (especially after listening to Rhyss sound clips of it) how hard a biatch is it gonna be to fit myself and any special tools I will need ?

Also do I need any clamps or new rubber mounts ?

thx.

well i fitted mine on my 1.2 mk1 no mechanic experience but it was hard because you dont have alot of access even when on stands gotta fit yourself and the zaust in there easier and less hassle to take to garage mate

Well I will give it a go fitting myself and get a mate to help, does anyone know if the original 172 exhaust needs cut ? I heard that you have to cut the original 172 exhaust cause its put on before some other part which means you cant get it off without cutting ?

I had mine fitted by Demon Tweeks but wasnt entirely happy with the fit. I tried to adjust it myself but found it hard with just ramps.

In the end I took it back and they spent 2 hours cutting it down to size and refitting it.

The standard 172 exhaust will come off un cut (Fred did it), but its such a fiddley task they usually just cut it off around the rear suspension arms. I have the collar to join mine should I want to put it back on.

Cheers Lee, so it is possible to remove it without cutting, I think I might just take the zorst to a garage if I can find one that will fit it for me.

What gets me is that it is possible, but no one actually does it. Renault themselves cut it off when sections need replacing and even have the clamps ready made up to piece it back together!! Ah, those freaky French.
