exhaust gains

hey there . might seem like a crazy question . what kind of gains do u get with an exhaust system . i hear ppl saying they are getting 10bhp gains with cat back systems . to me thats bulls**t. what u guys think

It's bullshit, 3-4bhp with a good system tops.

Maybe with a turbo car you could gain 10bhp. Seems pointless to change the exhaust without doing the air filter as well.

No gains but thats not really the reason why folk change on these.

depends on what your starting with. When designing exhaust systems it is harder to get power than to loose it. A lot of systems from exhaust companies loose power as they do not calculate pulse tuning and flow rates etc.

Companies like Piper and Supersprint do all this and as a result get decent gains. The Supersprint for the 172 ph1 got about 8hp gains over standard and they have before and after dyno results to prove this. The systems for the 172 ph2 and 182 make slightly less though.

my car with the supersprint race system (stock phs1 cat) did 160bhp @ wheels, works well!
