Exhaust gas warning light

Car  MX5 turbo
The exhaust gas monitor warning light has just lit up on my 182
It's on continously....should i be worried ?
The manual just says contact renault as soon as possible.!!
Will it be ok to drive,as we need the car tomorrow and can do without this s**t:(

wrong forum, but have you got a decat/sportscat? if so this is why, if your lamda sensors are most probably dirty and not reading properly, dont worry about it, well do, but its not urgent.

Thanks for that:D

how exactly does this come under general chat i do not know.

cliosport has a mechanical section and this is where it has been moved to.

Had the same on my 172 a few weeks ago. Turned out to be a dodgy Oxygen (lambda) Sensor on the exhaust manifold. Cost me 47 quid to have the bugger plugged in to find out and 90 quid for the sensor :(

Out of interest have you taken it for a good blowout on the motorway? Did it in mine and the light went out!!!

ive got the same problem. I wrote my car off in december (wasnt on then mind) waited 4 months for the car back ( jus dont ask!) and now this damn light has been on all the time since!. what should i do?/. ive read somewhere you can clean it or summat?

mine was replaced in minutes under warranty so dont be paying for it if the cars under 3 years old.

I drove down to Stanstead on Monday morning and my Exhaust Gas Monitor Warning Light came on.

Drove home tonight and it remained on non stop.

That's over 200 miles since It came on.

My cars only just had it's first birthday so should I ring my local dealer and get them to check it out?
