Exhaust gas warning light

This came on this morning. MK2 172. Bottom rhs of instrument panel. Presumably this could be indicative of lambda sensor failure? Anybodies had theirs replaced ? Cost?

could be just a glitch in the ecu. mine flashed on once then back off again after a minute or so took it to the dealer they plugged it into the diagnostic machine and said there was no fault found, so cleared the ecu and it hasnt come on again since.

Tried the usual Renault trick of switching engine off and then on again but no luck.

Take it to dealer at luchtime.

As I suspected it was the lambda sensor. Picked it up last night after the dealer mucked about sorting it out. To cut a long story short I bought it from Virgin and have a service card, 2 yr warranty - now expired, dealer got Renault to pay half and waited for a decision from service card people if they would pay rest, yeah right! Buy the time request was denied and they then spoke to me for my approval, it was too late to get the part and fit it on Monday night.

Just waiting for usual Reg Vardy customer satisfaction call!
