Exhaust Gasses light on and engine not running too good! HELP!

  Civic Vtec y0
Was out in the GF's Clio tonight and the exhaust gasses light came on, then more or less straight after that the car started running really rough! There was no power the engine wouldn't accelerate at all, some times it would catch as if it wanted to accelerate but it never did.

The car in general was just really juddery and just didnt want to run

Any suggestions or help?

Mucho thankness

Same thing happened to me the other day, engine ran a bit rough and wouldn't go above 40. Started it up again the next day and it's running fine :S

Due a service anyway so will get the codes read whilst it's in.

I had the same last weekend and it was because one of my cylinders was not firing due to a wet ignition lead.
