Exhaust manifold heatshield

Just had the 24K service and they have said that this needs replacing ASAP.

What happens if I just leave it and how much are they to replace?

Any one had similar problems

It protects the braking master cylinder and associated gubbins.

its a piece of foil about the size of an A5 page with a plastic clip on the back. It cant cost a lot but fitting it is a complete pain in the backside...

I have not asked the warranty question...yet.

They told me that it had completely come away. Is that peice of gold foil you can see if you look down the back of the engine?

the excessive heat that the master cylinder etc is subjected too could cause some damage so i would change the heatsheild.dont think the sheild itself would cost much.

Do you have to remove the shield to fit the de-cat?

it all depends on what is up with the heatsheild.there has to be a manufacturing defect with it for any warranty to apply.if the sheild hasnt been damaged by anybody then it may be warranty.i will check with my warranty manager this week to be sure.

Just had a look at the exhaust manifold and the gold heatshield is still there.

Why would Renault say it needs replacing? These things dont wear out do they?

what about the sheilds at the bottem? do any of the sheilds appear loose or damaged?
